Cuninghames of Craigends

Alec mentioned that Lilias day - which is celebrated in Kilbarchan - is named after a Lilias Cuninghame, a daughter of one of the historic lairds of Craigends.

CUNNINGHAM, ALEXANDER, the historian... [...] ...is believed to have lived until the year 1737. He left the bulk of his fortune to his nephew, Archibald Cunningham of Greenock, reserving eight thousand pounds in trust for his nieces, and four thousand pounds to Cunningham of Craigends.

The Cuninghame or Cunningham family of Craigends were descended from the ancient family of Cunynghame of Kilmaurs, in Ayrshire, Scotland. They were the descendants of the second son of the first Earl of Glencairn.
