Craigends of the 20th Century – A Renfrewshire estate remembered

The big house was in ruins but still intact. I remember going up the big staircase and actually being able to stand on the roof of the square tower and look over the estate. Alan Balantyne (formerly of Linwood)

Craigends of the 20th Century is a community project that aims to capture the stories, photos and artefacts of those that remember Craigends (Renfrewshire, Scotland) as-it-once-was.

Over the last century Craigends was transformed from one of the finest country estates in all of Scotland to the large housing development which is now home to thousands.

Craigends has been a special place for hundreds of people: those who have called it home; those who delighted in exploring the Mansion House and its grounds; those who had the heartbreak of seeing their childhood playground levelled to make way for houses.
